Rolfing was developed by an American doctor in Biochemistry Ida P. Rolf Ph. D. In contrast to other manual therapies, which treat only single symptoms in the body, she wanted to improve the complex overall structure of posture. For this reason it was named "Structural Integration".
During our life there are many influences on the structure of our body. These include genetic inheritance, adopted habits in posture and movement or traumatic experiences (accidents, physiological or emotional stress).

When I started Rolfing, I wanted to have a persistent back and neck ache on my right side
corrected. I never expected to be told that it was my left side of the body that had problems.
It was slightly 'shorter' than the right side, and it could actually be corrected. I felt
a change from day 1! After having gone through ten sessions, my body structure is much more
equalized, and I don't have this persistent back ache which I used to always have. I think
that the changes are only starting now, and I am glad to have been re-educated in the dynamics
of proper motion and posture. I totally recommend Rolfing!
